Seattle’s Liquify returns with “Tales of the Turquoise Turtle”, a full-length instrumental and psychedelic rock release that expands the project’s space rock foundation with a new direction. Known for creating atmospheric instrumental heavy psych built around groove and open-ended arrangements, Liquify brings a more relaxed and experimental side to this album. Fans of My Sleeping Karma and Black Sky Giant will find familiar territory here, especially within the world of instrumental rock, space rock, and desert-inspired psychedelia.

“Tales of the Turquoise Turtle” is the fifth Liquify album and marks the first time the project has incorporated vocals, with five tracks featuring vocals alongside the instrumental compositions. Written, performed, and produced entirely by Tanner Ratcliffe, the album was created with a focus on a mellow atmosphere, slower pacing, and a more peaceful approach compared to Liquify’s heavier releases. 

The record includes the full album across three sides, with two additional tracks appearing on Side D:

The “Sushi” Edition pressing features a unique pink, green, and white color split across 180g vinyl, matching the playful and surreal visual identity of the album. A proper format for a record built around long-form listening and a slower, immersive pace. The physical album also features a deluxe gatefold jacket with new artwork redesigned by Bill Kole specifically for this release.

Liquify is the solo project of Seattle musician Tanner Ratcliffe, with every instrument written and performed by him. Across multiple releases, the project has developed a recognizable approach to psychedelic rock, blending space rock influences with instrumental songwriting and a strong connection to sci-fi and surreal imagery.

“Tales of the Turquoise Turtle” was intentionally created a more experimental and peaceful record, stepping away from the heavier direction found throughout the Liquify catalog while continuing to build on the same foundation.
