Black Throne Bio

Black Throne Productions is an independent record label based out of Toronto, Ontatio. Established in 2021 by founding members Ryan Hilton and Zack Horvath, they sought to draw inspiration from their passion of the genre and their collective insider knowledge of the industry.

Black Throne Productions has created a platform to promote and support aspiring musicians within the metal, heavy psych, and doom genres. Through Black Throne Productions, they are not only fulfilling their own ambitions, but also contributing to the growth and enrichment of the metal music community and the ambitions of musicians alike.

Ryan Hilton CEO

Ryan is one of the two starting members of Black Throne Productions. His background is in Project Management with a track record of successfully managing complex projects across various industries and experience in stakeholder management. They understand the importance of engaging and communicating with project stakeholders, building strong relationships and managing project lifecycles.

Ryan is also the owner/operator of Pale Horse Productions, a Show/Tour curating organization that plays a vital role in connecting artists with venues, coordinating logistics, handling marketing and publicity, and ensuring the smooth execution of events.

Their focus on doom, metal, heavy psych and stoner rock capitalizes on a niche specialization, catering to fans of these specific genres and creating opportunities for bands and musicians within the scene.

 

Zack Horvath COO

Over the past 15 years, Zack has been immersed in the world of music as a skilled guitarist/musician and audio engineer. Throughout his journey, he has showcased a deep understanding of diverse musical genres, honing his craft as a guitarist and musician. His talents have allowed him to excel in both live performances and studio recordings.

As an audio engineer, his technical prowess and keen ear have played a crucial role in shaping the sound of various musical projects. His dedication to delivering high-quality and polished soundscapes has made him a sought-after professional in the industry.

With his expertise as a musician and audio engineer, he brings a unique perspective to the label, ensuring that the artists' work receives the utmost attention to detail in its production and release. The record label endeavors to be a haven for talented metal musicians, offering them opportunities for exposure, distribution, and collaboration. Zack’s journey is a testament to his unwavering dedication, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit in the realm of music and metal culture.

 

 

Paul Viau CFO

Recruited in early 2023, Paul is now the third member of the Black Throne leadership team. He brings more than 25 years of experience in the finance and business world. His career has included everything from running his own business, to working for multi-international companies. Having led companies at the highest level during his career, he brings the necessary tools needed to bring Black Throne to the forefront of the music industry.

With a passion for metal since the mid-80’s, his appetite for metal over the last four decades continues to fuel who he is today. From humble beginnings listening to Iron Maiden, he’s grown to enjoy all types of genres in the metal world we know today. Having the opportunity to bring up-and-coming bands to the spotlight and to grow together as a team inspired his decision to join Black Throne and follow his passion for music. “Up to Irons”
